Few artists loom larger in the annals of instrumental rock than Duane Eddy. The guitarist logged a dozen Top 40 hits for Jamie Records from 1958 to 1961, earning a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Eddy was known for his twangy tone, and from the title of his 1966 Reprise Records debut, he maintained his signature sound when he switched labels. Produced by Lee Hazlewood, THE BIGGEST TWANG OF THEM ALL offers a slice of 1966 life filtered through the axeman's distinctive string-bending; its 12 tracks include folk-rock (“Monday, Monday,” “Where Were You When I Needed You”), British Invasion (“A Groovy Kind Of Love”) and pop culture touchstones of the era (“Batman”).
