Album of the Day
LEAVE HOME
The second Ramones collection was a rush of energy comparable to the band's debut, but with a bigger budget and even more confident performances. “We had better production, we were playing a little faster, and we had a lot of songs accumulated,” recalled Joey Ramone of LEAVE HOME. “We were in really good shape for that album.” Originally released in January 1977, the Sire set was a 30-minute opus of buzzsaw rock that introduced fans to classics like “Pinhead” “California Sun” and “Swallow My Pride.” Bassist Dee Dee Ramone was born on this day in 1951, and in his honor we’ll shout “Gabba Gabba Hey” to another play of LEAVE HOME.
