Rhino Factoids: Buzzcocks, “Love You More” and other short singles

This year marks the 38th anniversary of the Buzzcocks releasing the shortest single of their career, which is a pretty impressive accomplishment when you consider how short their singles tended to be in general.

Released in 1978, “Love You More” may not get as much present-day love as such classic tracks as “What Do I Get?” or “Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve),” but it was a top-40 hit in the UK upon its initial release. It also clocks in at a whopping 1:50, making it easily the shortest song on Love Bites, the album from which it hails. Oddly enough, it is not the shortest song on the Buzzcocks’ seminal compilation Singles Going Steady – that honor goes to a little ditty called “Oh Shit” – but that particular track wasn’t actually released as a single, so “Love You More” still comes out victorious.
