After years of hard work in the Atlanta, Georgia music scene, Collective Soul became an “overnight success” with the release of “Shine” in 1994. The group was signed to Atlantic on the strength of the song (which eventually reached #11 on the singles chart), and when the label issued the band's demo tape as HINTS, ALLEGATIONS AND THINGS LEFT UNSAID, the album went double-platinum. Collective Soul's self-titled follow-up, DISCIPLINED BREAKDOWN and DOSAGE would each reach platinum status, while BLENDER would be certified Gold; THE STUDIO ALBUM COLLECTION 1993-2000 gathers all five of the group's Atlantic longplayers. Featuring such Rock chart-toppers as “December,” “Precious Declaration” and “Heavy,” the new boxed set shows Collective Soul to be among the most underrated and consistently listenable alternative/hard rockers of the 1990s.
