FISHIN’ IN THE DARK: THE VERY BEST OF NITTY GRITTY DIRT BAND
Just over half a century ago, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band formed in Long Beach, joining the folk and bluegrass bands then popular on the Southern California club scene. Although the lineup might have changed a bit over the years, the group has never stopped making music, and the new FISHIN’ IN THE DARK: THE VERY BEST OF NITTY GRITTY DIRT BAND offers a 21-track distillation of the group’s career from their 1967 debut through their 1988 album WORKIN’ BAND. Opening with Top Ten single “Mr. Bojangles,” the collection also boasts hits from the period when they were known simply as The Dirt Band, including “An American Dream” and “Make a Little Magic" (with harmony vocals by Linda Ronstadt and Nicolette Larson, respectively) as well as several Country chart-toppers. FISHIN’ IN THE DARK offers the catch of the day from these durable country-rock pioneers.
