Linda Ronstadt was born in Tucson, Arizona and heard plenty of traditional Mexican music growing up, so 1987's CANCIONES DE MI PADRE was a natural for her. As with the three albums of standards that preceded it, this collection of “songs of my father” harks back to an earlier era - though Ronstadt's crystalline vocals are so well suited to these ranchera classics that they sound like they were written for her.
