What’s That Song? Super Bowl Special
It’s the day after the Super Bowl, which means that there’ve been a lot of cheers from Chiefs fans and a lot of tears from 49’ers fans, but no matter whether your team won or lost, at least you’re still left with the commercials. In the wake of these generally entertaining efforts from advertisers, we wanted to offer up a reminder about three notable tracks from the Rhino catalog which took the spotlight for anywhere from 30 to 60 seconds.
• Ray Charles, “What’d I Say” (The NFL’s “The Next 100”): Some would argue that this was actually a commercial, since it’s really just the lead-in to the game, but we’re including it on a technicality because it was just so darned awesome. Seriously, if you tuned in late, you’ll want to sit down and watch this intently from start to finish. As for the song, it doesn’t get much better than Ray Charles, so it works perfectly.
VIDEO:
• Sonny & Cher, “I Got You Babe” (Jeep): If you don’t already know this one from its use in Groundhog Day, then you probably didn’t appreciate the commercial very much, since it offers fans of that film a makeshift sequel, including not only Bill Murray but also his brother Brian Doyle Murray as the mayor of Punxsutawney and Stephen Tobolowsky. You know, Ned? Ned Ryerson? Ol’ Needlenose Ned? Sure you do. Anyway, this was Sonny and Cher’s signature song, and it’s a classic, so if you’ve never actually checked out the album from which it hails (LOOK AT US), it's time you got to know it.

• Twisted Sister, “I Wanna Rock” (Facebook): There’s a whole lot of rock – and rocks, and rocking, and Rocky – in this commercial, so it only stands to reason that you’d use this Twisted Sister classic as the soundtrack.
