What’s That Song? – Duke Ellington’s “Mary Poppins” cover pops up in PROP CULTURE

If you’re a Disney+ subscriber – and given that we’re still battling through a pandemic as of this writing, it’s a fair bet that many of you out there are – then you may be familiar with a new series on the streaming service called Prop Culture. Each episode of the series takes viewers on a trip through the most famous props of a film from the Disney catalog, and it’s been a whole lot of fun thus far, but it’s in the very first episode that viewers hear the song we’re here to talk about today.

When Walt Disney’s Mary Poppins was released in theaters, it was a smash hit, as was its soundtrack. Indeed, the tunes contained within the film were so captivating that no less a music icon than Duke Ellington opted to release an LP containing naught but those songs, calling it DUKE ELLINGTON PLAYS WITH THE ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SCORE – WALT DISNEY’S MARY POPPINS.
