RIP Kenneth Jackson of RIVERSIDE, Dead at 51
Kenneth Jackson, former member of Sire Records band Riverside, has died at the age of 51. Jackson's passing was revealed by band The Ocean Blue, who shared the sad news on social media.
"We are utterly devastated to learn of the sudden loss of our dear friend @dakotauk," the group wrote on Instagram, referring to Jackson's account on the platform. "Kenny was a sweetheart of a guy, a dapper gentleman, generous soul, connoisseur, and a brilliant guitarist for Riverside. We went way back to the earliest days of playing Philly and NJ and NYC, and Kenny joined us on stage many times, including our last show in Brooklyn at the Bell House. Our deepest condolences to Kenny's family and loved ones. Love you Kenny, we will miss you."
The Ocean Blue included a link to Jackson's obituary page, where his family asks that in lieu of flowers, for those so compelled to please consider donations to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), adding that "Kenneth, La and their beautiful pug Sadie (RIP) would be most grateful!"
Riverside (often stylized as Riverside USA, as not to be confused by the Polish prog-rock outfit of the same name) produced dreamy, often melancholy rock heavy on jangling guitars (some would call it "indie") that falls right in line with The Ocean Blue's shimmering and emotional tunes. RHINO and the entire Warner Music family sends our prayers and condolences to Jackson's family and friends.
