Out Today: Rumer, THIS GIRL'S IN LOVE: A BACHARACH AND DAVID SONGBOOK
If you haven’t yet fallen in love with British singer-songwriter Rumer, here’s hoping that the fourth time’s the charm: she’s just released her fourth album, THIS GIRL’S IN LOVE: A BACHARACH AND DAVID SONGBOOK, which features her take on a dozen classic compositions by Burt Bacharach and Hal David.
Recorded at Capitol Studios with arranger/composer/orchestrator Rob Shirakbari, a.k.a. Rumer’s husband, the collection of covers is one which came naturally to Rumer, even if it’s one that she admits she couldn’t have done until recently. "I think I've now got a wide enough emotional palette to draw on for these songs' characters and stories,” Rumer admitted in the original press release for the album. “That kind of insight only comes as you get older." It’s also worth noting that, as collaborators go, Rumer couldn’t have found a better one: Shirakbari worked for 25 years with Bacharach and 30 years with Dionne Warwick.
You already know the songs. Now it’s time to fall in love with the voice.
