Now Available: Jethro Tull, Aqualung: 45th Anniversary Edition

In 2011, Jethro Tull’s iconic album Aqualung was released in celebration of its 40th anniversary. If you didn’t pick it up then, you’re in luck, because if you’ve checked your calendar, you know that it’s been five years, so it’s time for us to release a 45th Anniversary Edition!

If you’ve been following the formats of our recent Tull reissues, then you won’t be surprised to find that this is a 2 CD + 2 DVD “bookset,” which is to say that it contains an 80-page booklet and it’ll fit handsomely on a bookshelf. There’s a particular bonus to this edition that the other edition couldn’t claim: it’s been mixed and mastered by Steven Wilson, a name that all Tull fans will know immediately. The first disc is the original album, and the second disc includes additional recordings from 1970 and 1971, and they’ve also had the magic touch of Mr. Wilson. As for the DVDs, they contain Wilson-curated 5.1 surround mixes, hi-res, stereo mixes, the 1974 quad mix, and flat transfers of Aqualung as well as the entire Life Is a Long Song EP. There’s also an original Reprise radio ad and the original promotional film for “Life Is A Long Song.”
