Now Available: Chicago, Love Songs
With Valentine's Day just around the corner, is there any better way to tell that special someone that they're the inspiration, that they're a hard habit to break, and that you don't want to live without their love than by giving them a compilation of Chicago's greatest love songs?
For the purposes of this discussion, the answer is “no.”
You may be familiar with Chicago's Love Songs already, as it first saw release back in January 2005. Yes, that's right: it was another instance where we made sure that it hit record store shelves just in time for Valentine's Day. Look, let's not pretend the tie-in isn't perfect, given how many of the band's hits are applicable for a compilation with this title. Heck, the bigger issue here was how much time we spent fretting about the songs we had to leave off! Still, given that we managed to fit 18 tracks onto this collection, including a few new versions of classic tracks to make it a must-own even for those Chicago fans who already own all of the band's albums, we think we did a pretty good job of picking the best possible stuff.
Here's the full track listing, along with notations about anything that's unique about the tracks:
1. You're The Inspiration
2. If You Leave Me Now - a 2004 live version featuring Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind & Fire on lead vocals
3. Hard To Say I'm Sorry / Get Away
4. Here In My Heart
5. Call On Me
6. Colour My World
7. Just You 'N' Me
8. Love Lives On - replacing the 2004 live cover of Earth, Wind & Fire's “After the Love Has Gone”
9. Hard Habit To Break
10. Look Away
11. Beginnings (GH Edit)
12. Happy Man (GH2 Edit)
13. Will You Still Love Me?
14. No Tell Lover
15. I Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love
16. Never Been In Love Before
17. What Kind Of Man Would I Be?
18. Wishing You Were Here
By the way, if you don't recognize the title “Love Lives On,” we'll cut you some slack, but for the record, it's from the band's 2014 album, Now, a.k.a. Chicago XXXVI. Trust us, you'll love it.
