It’s been 50 years since Buffalo Springfield played their final show, but even with the amount of time that’s passed between May 5, 1968 and today, the band’s music is still as beloved – and, on occasion, still all too relevant – as it was when it was originally released.

In celebration of the band’s brief but influential career, Rhino has just released the new box set WHAT’S THAT SOUND? THE COMPLETE ALBUMS COLLECTION, a five-disc set which includes stereo mixes for all three albums – BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD, BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD AGAIN, and LAST TIME AROUND – as well as mono mixes for the band’s first and second albums. The contents of the set are newly remastered, and the remastering was done not only from the original analog tapes but also under the auspices of Neil Young, so you know they’re gonna sound as good as they possibly can.

In addition to being released on CD, the set is also available digitally, but here’s the best bit of all: there’s also a limited-edition set on 180-gram vinyl. Mind you, there will only be 5,000 copies pressed, so you’ll have to move fast.
