The 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class has been revealed.

The sixteen artists were announced as the latest inductees in the Rock Hall included a diverse lineup including Warner Music acts the MC5, Foreigner, Cher, Mary J. Blige, and Dionne Warwick.

The artists were announced in a trio of categories: Performer, The Musical Influence Award and the Musical Excellence Award. Mary J. Blige, Cher and Foreigner were among those in the Performer category. Dionne Warwick and the MC5 were inducted in the Musical Excellence category; the MC5 had been nominated six times without ever being voted in.

For the first time ever, the inductees were revealed on music competition show American Idol, which honored the occasion with a special “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night” episode.

“I think it means more to me now than perhaps 20 years ago,” Mick Jones of Foreigner explained to Billboard. “I’ve had a great career, and this is like the whipped cream and cherry on top. It’s something I will savor over the years. It’s a great honor to be included amongst all these great artists that have been inducted over the years."

Margaret Saadi Kramer, the widow of MC5 guitarist Wayne Kramer who passed away at age 75 in February of this year, called the recognition "bittersweet," via Billboard. "Perhaps even the exact right thing at precisely the wrong time. Yet I’m certain he would have landed in gratitude for this recognition and received it like the beautiful free radical he was, an underdog victorious.”

"Beyond Grateful!!!!!!," Mary J. Blige shared on Instagram about the announcement. "This is incredible!!! God always has the final say!!!! Thank you to my fans all over the world!!!! Tears of Joy!!!!"

The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will happen live on Saturday, October 19 at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio.

The ceremony will stream live on Disney+ with a special airing on ABC at a later date.
