Lykke Li Reveals Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition of WOUNDED RHYMES
Lykke Li is ready to look back. The LA-based, vocalist, producer, and songwriter has revealed details of the 10th Anniversary deluxe reissue of her seminal 2011 album, Wounded Rhymes. The digital deluxe edition was released last Friday, July 16, with the vinyl edition out Friday, October 15.
"It's like the most exotic place on Earth," the singer told Guardian about Los Angeles in 2011, the place that inspired the record. "I read this book by David Lynch where he talks about coming to LA from Chicago and he's like, 'There's always this beautiful light - it fills your soul - and the smell of jasmine.' My plan was to take a really long break. But then I wrote all these songs and it felt like if I don't record them they're going to be lost. I'm just going to get too happy [in LA], so I'll just do it, OK?"
Wounded Rhymes was a global success, with the album climbing as high as #36 on the Billboard 200. The album's second single, "I Follow Rivers," was an international smash, topping singles charts in Belgium, Italy, Greece, Poland, Germany, and Romana. By the end of the year, Wounded Rhymes was listed among the best albums of 2011 from Pitchfork, Mojo, SPIN, Village Voice, and more.
The reissue features unreleased demo versions of "Youth Knows No Pain," "Jerome," "I Follow Rivers," and for the first time ever on DSPs, a remix of "I Follow Rivers" by Tyler, the Creator. Fans can pre-order the vinyl reissue (and pre-save the digital edition) here.
