In Stores This Week: Marillion, CLUTCHING AT STRAWS: DELUXE EDITION

Last year marked the 30^th anniversary of Marillion’s fourth studio album, CLUTCHING AT STRAWS, an effort which provided the band with a trio of top-40 hits in the UK and found them climbing all the way to #2 on the UK Albums chart. Unfortunately, it also proved to be the final album to feature their original frontman, Fish, as their lead singer, but looking back at the LP, it can at least be said that Marillion wrapped up the first chapter of their career in a decidedly solid manner. 

This week, Rhino and Parlophone will release CLUTCHING AT STRAWS: DELUXE EDITION, a 4-CD / 1-Blu-ray set – or possibly a 5-LP set, depending on your preferred medium – which will provide fans with the most in-depth look at the album as they could hope to have. In addition to a newly remixed version of the original album by Andy Bradfield and Avril Mackintosh, the set also includes a live performance by the band at the Edinburgh Playhouse in December 1987 and thirteen demo recordings. On the Blu-ray, fans will find three mixes of the album (48/24 PCM Stereo Remix, 48/24 LPCM Master Audio 5.1 Mix, and 48/24 DTS Master Audio 5.1 Mix), interviews with Fish and his fellow band members, and videos for “Incommunicado,” “Sugar Mice,” and “Warm Wet Circles.”
