Gone Digital: 10,000 Maniacs, THESE ARE DAYS (Official Music Video)
The year was 1992. College kids across the country were heading back to school, Bill Clinton was about to be elected as the President of the United States, and 10,000 Maniacs had just released the band's fifth studio album, Our Time in Eden, in September. The album's lead single: "These Are Days," which arrived on November 14, 1992.
"These Are Days" is thick with a warm, nostalgic energy, the vibe compounded by music video featuring kids frolicking in the woods. The clip also highlighted the band's visually magnetic singer, Natalie Merchant, dancing high atop a city skyscraper. The song struck a chord with the "modern rock" crowd, as it smashed straight to #1 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks (now the Alternative Airplay) chart over the week of November 21, 1992. It held the top spot for two straight weeks.
