Do you have a goth rock fan in your family? Sure, we all do! Okay, fine, maybe we all don’t, so let’s shift this in a more specific direction: if you have a Sisters of Mercy fan in your family, then you’ll want to know about Rhino’s latest exclusive vinyl reissue: the band’s greatest-hits album, A SLIGHT CASE OF OVERBOMBING.

Adding VOLUME 1 to this compilation may have proven to be an act of misguided optimism – as of this writing, it’s been 26 years since the release of this best-of set, and they’ve yet to release so much as a new single – but it doesn’t change the greatness of the contents of this particular LP. All of the band’s UK hits are here, including “Body and Soul,” “Walk Away,” “No Time to Cry,” “This Corrosion,” “Dominion / Mother Russia,” “Lucretia My Reflection,” “More,” “Doctor Jeep,” “Temple of Love (1992),” and “Under the Gun.” In addition, the album also includes the radio edit of “Detonation Boulevard” and the Canadian club mix of “Vision Thing.”

Sometimes you just need to embrace the darkness, and if you know someone who subscribes to that philosophy, then this might just make the perfect holiday gift.
