Various Artists, Andre: Songs from the Original Soundtrack – Unless you were a kid or had kids during the 1990s, the seal-centric family film Andre may have flown under your radar, but in addition to being a sweet little story about the bond that develops between a little girl and a seal, it also has a pretty great soundtrack. The majority of it is filled with classic R&B from the late 1950s and early 1960s, including the Coasters, the Drifters (and Ben E. King), the Flamingos, and the Toys, but it opens with a track by Tyler Collins (“Thanks to You”) and closes with contributions from Morgan Heritage (“This Magic Moment”) and Craig ‘n Co (“You’re My Best Friend”).

Ron Wood, I’ve Got My Own Album to Do – Whether the album got its title from the recurring statement uttered by guest musicians like George Harrison and Mick Jagger or because Wood was giving Rod Stewart the business, this solo debut from our man Ronnie gave the former member of the Faces an opportunity to strut his stuff. If you’ve never heard it, it’s definitely more in the vein of Keith Richards’ solo work than Jagger’s, in that it’s clear Wood was way more interested in having fun than making a concerted effort at chart success. As such, it’s aged very well over the years…unlike, say, “Let’s Work.” (We’re just sayin’.)

Ron Wood, Now Look – Woody’s second solo endeavor is just about as entertaining as its predecessor, and if it isn’t quite as star-packed as that effort, the aforementioned Mr. Richards is along for the ride on a couple of tracks, as is Mick Taylor for a song, and if you hear someone particularly soulful chiming in on vocals here and there, well, that’s the legendary Bobby Womack. Seriously, if you’re a Stones fans who’s never gotten around to checking out what Ron Wood has brought to the table as a solo artist, Now Look is a must-listen. (You might still want to check out his debut first, though, just to keep things chronological.)
