Husker Du
Minneapolis' Husker Du - guitarist Bob Mould, bassist Greg Norton and drummer Grant Hart – set land speed records for hardcore punk in the early 1980s. But the trio also had an appreciation for pop conventions, and as the decade progressed, melody and song structure grew more pronounced in their music. By the time of Husker Du's final studio release, 1987's WAREHOUSE: SONGS AND STORIES, Mould and Hart had emerged as writers of the first order, though such highlights as “Could You Be The One?” and “She Floated Away” reveal the pair heading down separate creative paths. Being on the Warner Bros. roster afforded the group access to top studios, and the WAREHOUSE double album is likely their most well-produced.
