Jethro Tull's final concept album, TOO OLD TO ROCK 'N' ROLL: TOO YOUNG TO DIE! spins the tale of rocker Ray Lomas, whose music goes out of style only to come back into fashion later on. Released as punk rock was beginning to grab headlines in the U.K., the 1976 collection underlines the cyclical nature of pop culture as it serves up such outstanding songs as “Quizz Kid,” “Taxi Grab” and the title track. Led by customarily strong performances from frontman Ian Anderson and guitarist Martin Barre, the set marked the debut of bassist John Glascock (who was born on this day in 1951). The underrated TOO OLD TO ROCK 'N' ROLL: TOO YOUNG TO DIE! will put a smile on listeners' faces no matter where they fall on the age spectrum.
