A decade before Spinal Tap skewered heavy metal, THE RUTLES turned classic rock parody up to 11. The brainchild of former Monty Python member Eric Idle, TV mockumentary All You Need Is Cash profiled a band whose resemblance to Liverpool's favorite foursome was uncanny. With Neil Innes (of The Bonzo Dog Band) supplying the musical vision, the soundtrack features 20 spot-on spoofs that are almost as wonderful as the Beatle originals; one listen to “Ouch!” or “Piggy In The Middle” and you'll never hear “Help!” or “I Am The Walrus” quite the same way again. Innes was born on this day in 1944, and we'll wish “Ron Nasty” a happy birthday with another spin of the Grammy-nominated THE RUTLES.
