Gary Wright
Though a New Jersey native, Gary Wright made his name with an English band, Spooky Tooth. After going solo, the keyboardist struck gold in 1975, when “Dream Weaver” and “Love Is Alive” both became No.2 singles. They're among the nine originals on THE DREAM WEAVER (itself a Top Ten album), a feast of Hammond organ, Rhodes piano and synthesizers by Wright and future hit writer/producer David Foster. While the title song took on a life of its own in movies and television (cropping up in That '70s Show, Wayne's World, Toy Story 3 and more), the album as a whole boasts plenty of variety, with strong hooks and even some R&B grooves. This is Gary Wright's 80th birthday, and we'll wish him a happy one with THE DREAM WEAVER.
