THE COMPLETE ATCO SINGLES
Vanilla Fudge emerged from New York in the heady daze of the late-'60s, when The Chocolate Watchband and The Strawberry Alarm Clock were mining musical nuggets. The Fudge were more commercially potent than the former and heavier than the latter, with a powerful rhythm section (bassist Tim Bogert and drummer Carmine Appice would soon be recruited by Jeff Beck). The original quartet's heyday is well-represented by THE COMPLETE ATCO SINGLES, whose 19 A- and B-sides include “Take Me for a Little While,” “Season of the Witch” and Top 10 hit “You Keep Me Hangin' On.” If much of the group's music was pop and rock covers delivered at a dramatic pace and maximum volume, this highly accessible collection shows how effective that approach could be. We’ll crank THE COMPLETE ATCO SINGLES up to 11 to celebrate Vanilla Fudge guitarist Vince Martell’s birthday.
