Songs to Learn & Sing
Echo and the Bunnymen emerged from Liverpool at the beginning of the 1980s with a take on post-punk informed by the darker side of 1960s rock. While the British press swooned over the quartet's moody atmospherics, the band could also craft compelling singles, a talent highlighted on SONGS TO LEARN & SING. Chronologically sequenced, the 1985 compilation features songs from all four of the group's albums to that point, including such favorites as “Do It Clean,” “The Cutter” and “The Killing Moon” before finishing with “Bring on the Dancing Horses,” a new single soon to find fame through the Pretty In Pink soundtrack. A Top 10 U.K. hit, SONGS TO LEARN & SING is a terrific introduction to the group, and we'll give it another spin to wish guitarist Will Sergeant a happy birthday.
