With the success of TRUE, Spandau Ballet had graduated to larger arenas and the band were eager to capture the strength of their live performances on their follow-up. Though recorded in studios in Munich, West Germany, PARADE succeeds on that front, with Tony Hadley's confident vocals and Gary Kemp's guitar work leading the way. Highlights of the 1984 Chrysalis collection include “Highly Strung,”“Only When You Leave”and “I'll Fly for You”- the latter two Top 10 hits in the group's native U.K., where the album went Platinum. “PARADE is still my favourite Spandau album,”enthused Hadley in his 2004 autobiography, and we'll give it another spin now to wish the singer a happy birthday.
