Nicolette Larson
Montana-born Nicolette Larson got her start as a backing vocalist working with such performers as Neil Young, who pointed her towards Warner Bros. Records and gave her a great calling card in “Lotta Love.” The song became a Top 10 single for Larson and the opening track of her 1978 debut, NICOLETTE. The album's 11 cuts offer an appealing mix of rock, country and R&B; perhaps because of her training as a session singer, Larson takes to each style like a fish to water. The collection was produced by WB hitmaker Ted Templeman, and features a small army of musical luminaries in support, among them guitarists James Burton and Albert Lee, members of Little Feat and The Doobie Brothers, and Linda Ronstadt. Nicolette Larson passed away on this day in 1997; while we lost her too soon, her voice lives on through the sparking NICOLETTE.
