On this day in 1976, the Sex Pistols made a notorious appearance on the Today Show in the U.K., tangling with host Bill Grundy. There was very little the pioneering punk quartet did during its all-too-brief original lifespan that didn't engender controversy. Their sole studio album, NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS, HERE'S THE SEX PISTOLS was banned by many major British retailers – but debuted at No.1 on the U.K. chart anyway.
