Mose Allison
Cool jazz rarely got cooler than when Mose Allison played; the singer-songwriter-pianist's dry-witted lyrics and blues-inspired style earned him such fans as Van Morrison and The Who. MOSE IN YOUR EAR features our man in concert at the Palo Alto, California, club In Your Ear in 1972, accompanied by bassist Clyde Flowers and drummer Eddie Charlton, and it's clear the trio were having a terrific night. The Atlantic collection's ten tracks are split evenly between Allison originals like “I Don't Worry About A Thing” and choice covers including “The Seventh Son” and a surprisingly melancholy “You Are My Sunshine,” and the keyboard virtuoso makes every solo count. Today we remember the late, great Mose Allison with MOSE IN YOUR EAR.
