Big Daddy Kane
Born Antonio Hardy on this day in 1968, Big Daddy Kane is among the most formidable MCs ever to wield a microphone. After establishing himself as a key member of the New York-based Juice Crew collective, the rapper released his debut album, LONG LIVE THE KANE, in 1988. Produced by Marley Marl, the Cold Chillin' collection is packed with classics including “Raw,” “I'll Take You There” and “Ain't No Half-Steppin',” which was cited by Rolling Stone as one of the 50 greatest hip-hop songs of all time. The Gold-certified set is a must for any old school fan and to celebrate the performer’s birthday, we say LONG LIVE THE KANE!
