Live: Blow Your Face Out
The J Geils Band became Boston rock royalty with their high-energy concert performances, and that's displayed to fine effect on LIVE: BLOW YOUR FACE OUT. Drawn from November 1975 shows at Boston Garden and Detroit's Cobo Hall (site of the group's earlier FULL HOUSE set), the Atlantic double album serves up a heapin' helping of the R&B-flavored rock that was the sextet's specialty before their pop stardom in the 1980s. Band originals hold their own next to Motown and blues classics across these 17 tracks, driven by powerful grooves, sizzling instrumental work and Peter Wolf's dynamic vocals (his spoken intro to “Musta Got Lost” is all you need to hear to know you're in the presence of a master showman). A Top 40 hit upon release, LIVE: BLOW YOUR FACE OUT will do exactly that.
