Don Henley
Don Henley co-founded one of the 1970s’ greatest bands and his solo debut, I CAN’T STAND STILL, is worthy of that legacy. The 1982 Asylum set bristles with anger at the media (“Dirty Laundry,” a Top Ten hit) and illiteracy (“Johnny Can’t Read”), but balances social concerns with more personal ones as on the title track. Co-produced and largely co-written with L.A. session ace Danny Kortchmar, the album features a legion of top SoCal musicians in support, including Warren Zevon, Bill Withers, Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench and Toto drummer Jeff Porcaro, not to mention a couple of Eagles. A newly remastered reissue of the Gold-certified I CAN’T STAND STILL arrives in stores today.
