Album of the Day
Houses Of The Holy (Deluxe)
On HOUSES OF THE HOLY, Led Zeppelin continued the progression of their classic fourth album to produce one of their most diverse sets to date. Though there's no shortage of dynamic Jimmy Page riffs, the 1973 Atlantic collection ventures far afield from the blues-inspired hard rock of the quartet's debut to touch upon funk ("The Crunge"), folk ("Over The Hills And Far Away") and reggae ("D'Yer Mak'er"). The Deluxe Edition of the multi-platinum hit includes a bonus disc with embryonic mixes of such Zep classics as "The Song Remains The Same," "The Rain Song" and "Dancing Days." As on the original release, Page handled production on this definitive 2-CD reissue; the guitar great was born on this day in 1944, and we'll wish him a happy birthday with HOUSES OF THE HOLY.
