Chicago
Chicago's tenth album came wrapped in a chocolate bar cover, and CHICAGO X still sounds sweet. The 1976 collection's 11 tracks include accomplished funk (“Skin Tight”) and Latin (“Another Rainy Day in New York City”) sounds, as well as opening and closing rockers (“Once Or Twice” and “Hope For Love”) courtesy of guitarist Terry Kath. Peter Cetera's wistful ballad “If You Leave Me Know” is so atypical of the album as a whole that it nearly didn't make the cut; in the end, the song became the group's first No.1 single and earned two Grammy Awards. CHICAGO X marks a key turning point in the band's public perception and musical evolution, and today we'll give it another spin to celebrate Peter Cetera's birthday.
