The musical climate was changing in England in 1988, and that’s reflected on Duran Duran’s BIG THING. The band’s fifth studio set had a more experimental and electronic approach than previous releases, with house music and Roxy Music among its influences; this was clearly a group that had grown beyond pinup status. Highlights among the dozen originals here include U.K. hit “Do You Believe in Shame,” "Lake Shore Driving” and one of Duran Duran’s most unusual singles, “All She Wants Is.” We’ll give the Gold-certified BIG THING another spin now to wish bassist John Taylor a happy birthday.
