One of the most popular metal bands of the 1980s, Dokken was riding the success of three platinum albums in a row when they went to Japan for their first live set. The 1988 BEAST FROM THE EAST captures the quartet in peak form on 13 originals drawn from their four studio collections (including hits “Alone Again” and “In My Dreams” as well as their Nightmare On Elm Street 3 song, “Dream Warriors”), plus the new studio track “Walk Away.” Frontman Don Dokken and guitarist George Lynch sing and play as though their lives depend on it, and the Tokyo audience responds with roars of approval. With a Best Metal Performance Grammy nomination to its credit, the gold-certified BEAST FROM THE EAST remains one of Dokken's best, and a hugely enjoyable listen for any headbanger.
