Buzzcocks
Outrageous behavior and revolutionary rhetoric may have earned the Sex Pistols and The Clash bigger headlines, but Buzzcocks stand as tall as any British punk band once you tune out the controversy and listen to their records. The band's debut, ANOTHER MUSIC IN A DIFFERENT KITCHEN, is packed with catchy hooks, clever lyrics and adrenaline velocity. Produced by Martin Rushent, the set bears traces of former frontman Howard Devoto (who has three song credits), but as both a writer and vocalist, Pete Shelley holds the spotlight effortlessly. The original album includes a U.K. hit in “I Don't Mind” and the Special Edition of ANOTHER MUSIC IN A DIFFERENT KITCHEN includes a few more steady-going singles as well as a slew of demos, Peel Sessions and a full live concert.
