Album of the Day
AND THEN… ALONG COMES THE ASSOCIATION
Harmony pop/folk-rock band The Association scored their first Top 10 single with “Along Comes Mary,” and the song provided the title of the group’s debut long-player. But that wasn’t the only hit on AND THEN … ALONG COMES THE ASSOCIATION – the collection's centerpiece ballad, “Cherish,” reached the No.1 slot. There's a lot more to love about the 1966 album beyond these two classics; “Enter The Young,” “Your Own Love” and “Standing Still” are just a few fine originals you might not hear on a greatest hits collection. Future Millennium mastermind Curt Boettcher produced the set, giving the sextet's soaring vocals (and some of L.A.'s top session players) plenty of room to shine. The Association's Ted Bluechel Jr. was born on this day in 1942, so we’ll cue up AND THEN … ALONG COMES in his honor.
