No library of '80s “hair band” hard rock/pop metal would be complete without a survey of White Lion's finest. Thirteen of the talented New York-based group's stand-outs are collected on THE BEST OF WHITE LION, a comprehensive single disc overview spotlighting them for the powerful “mane attraction” they were.

Fronted by charismatic, model-handsome, Danish-born lead vocalist Mike Tramp, the band - which first formed in '83 - also boasted the Van Halen-inflected, six-string chops of master guitarist Vito Bratta. The pair were White Lion's principal songwriters as well.

They entered the music scene with the independent 1985 debut LP Fight To Survive, which charted on the Billboard 200. White Lion's major breakthrough came with their Atlantic Records debut album Pride, a #11 album released in 1987. Fueled by massive MTV airplay, the single “Wait” roared to #8 on Billboard's Hot 100. It opens this compilation, which also includes the #3 power ballad “When Children Cry,” the hits “Tell Me,” the environmentally-themed “Little Fighter,” “Broken Heart,” a cover of the Golden Earring classic “Radar Love” and more.

THE BEST OF WHITE LION pulls material from all three of their Atlantic albums - Pride as well as Big Game ('89) and Mane Attraction. Back in the day, White Lion were also potent road warriors, opening for acts including AC/DC, Aerosmith, KISS and Ozzy Osbourne. A favorite with fans and respected by fellow musicians, the group is an essential part of the era in which they thrived.
