Falsetto lead singer Valli formed the group’s first incarnation in 1955, and by ’61 The 4 Seasons’ name and best-known lineup were set with Valli, Bob Gaudio, Nick Massi and Tommy DeVito. Working most often with the producing/writing team of Bob Crewe, Gaudio and arranger Charlie Calello (who replaced Massi in the group in 1965), the Seasons scored dozens of hits from 1962 through the mid-’70s, layering their signature harmonies onto songs that struck responsive chords among young lovers everywhere.
