ROD STEWARTAtlantic Crossing (Collector's Edition)$24.98 CD In 1975, Rod Stewart made his literal Atlantic crossing, settling on a new city and a new sound that would ultimately catapult him to solo superstardom. Recorded in his new home of Los Angeles and small-town-with-big-sound music mecca Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Stewart's 6th studio album, ATLANTIC CROSSING exchanged his standard folk formula for stadium pop appeal. The original LP, laid down by acclaimed soul producer Tom Dowd and backed by some of the South's finest soul musicians, was divided between fast and slow. The fast side applied Rod's innate cheek and charm and the slow side showcased his ability to deliver a heartfelt ballad with three impressive singles - “I Don't Want To Talk About It,” “Sailing,” and “This Old Heart Of Mine.” Available for a limited time only, disc one of the ATLANTIC CROSSING Collector's Edition 2-CD set features the newly remastered original album, plus additional instrumental track “Skye Boat Song” as arranged by Stewart himself. The second disc contains alternate versions of the entire ATLANTIC CROSSING album including a take of “This Old Heart Of Mine” recorded with soul music heroes The MGs (of Booker T and The MGs) and an early version of “Stone Cold Sober” entitled “Too Much Noise.” Other highlights include previously unreleased covers of the Bee Gee's “To Love Somebody,” Lee Dorsey's “Holy Cow,” and Elvis Presley's “Return To Sender.” Selection # 516571 You really should take a look at these: |
