A one-of-a-kind 2-CD set gathering over 70 poems read, sounded, or performed by the best and the brightest African-American poets of the 20th century. The featured works present the important writers and the great historic movements in black literature and culture from the Harlem Renaissance to hip-hop, from W.E.B DuBois and Maya Angelou to Gil Scott-Heron and Public Enemy. Most of the readings are previously unreleased, and several were recorded by the original authors specifically for this collection.
