Now Available: Three Black Sabbath Deluxe Editions, plus a Past Lives reissue, too

Earlier this week, Black Sabbath kicked off “The End,” a jaunt which will serve as the iconic band's final tour. This is, of course, a highly momentous occasion, one which warrants a celebration, which is why we've released deluxe editions of the band's first three studio albums: Black Sabbath, Paranoid, and Master of Reality.

These deluxe editions will contain the 2012 remasters of the original albums, but each will also be fleshed out with a second disc filled with outtakes which are previously unreleased in North America. Yes, it's a caveat that must be made, since we know how you diehard fans want to make sure your collection is as complete as possible by picking up stuff that's been released in other countries. If you're not quite that diehard, though, then you'll really dig the stuff that we've dug up for these second discs.

Black Sabbath includes studio outtakes from the 1969 sessions for the album, including alternate versions of "Black Sabbath" and "N.I.B.," as well two versions of the UK single "Evil Woman (Don't Play Games With Me)." Paranoid, meanwhile, features instrumental takes on "War Pigs," "Iron Man" and more, along with versions of "Paranoid" and "Planet Caravan" with alternate lyrics. As for Master of Reality, you get versions of "Children Of The Grave" and "Sweet Leaf" that have different lyrics, an instrumental version of "After Forever,” and an outtake for "Solitude" that features an alternative guitar tuning.

Lastly, although it hasn't gotten the deluxe treatment, we're additionally commemorating Black Sabbath's final tour by reissuing Past Lives, a collection featuring live performances recorded between 1970 and 1975. Sorry we haven't added anything additional to it, but it's been out of print for quite some time, so hopefully rescuing it from that status is enough of a gift all by itself. Plus, we're reissuing it on both CD and on vinyl, just to make it that much more special. You're welcome.
