Now Available: INXS, KICK: 30TH ANNIVERSARY
It was 40 years ago this year that INXS first came together, which – make no mistake about it – is an impressive anniversary and one worth celebrating. 20 years ago this year, another event took place that won’t soon be forgotten: Michael Hutchence died at the age of 37. These two moments in INXS history are bookended by the anniversary of the greatest commercial success in the band’s career: the release of KICK, an album which has, over the course of the intervening 30 years, gone platinum three times over in the UK, six times over in America, and seven times over in Australia.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of KICK, Rhino has just released – and we’ll bet you never saw this coming – KICK: THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION.
This DVD-sized package is a 3-CD / 1 Blu-ray set, and it’s tricked out with a ton of great material from the KICK era, including a remastered version of the original album on Disc 1, followed by two discs worth of B-sides, demos, live tracks, and various edits, mixes, and remixes. The Blu-ray features the original album mixed in Dolby Atmos by producer Giles Martin and Sam Okell, along with all of the promo videos from the album.
In addition, there’ll also be a vinyl reissue of KICK, one which features a half-speed remaster of the album spread over the course of two 180-gram, 45-RPM LPs. Alas, it won’t be out until February 9, but now at least you’ve got a date to circle on your new 2018 calendar.
